Carl Ashworth

Level 1 & 2 Bike Fitter

Carl at the Bike Fitting Room has been established for nearly 5 years and has performed thousands of bike fits for people helping them unlock their true potential. He started off as a young kid in a bike shop at just 13 years old learning how to repair bikes from a team GB mechanic who was also a local shop owner. He has been in the trade ever since from working in local shops to importing and distributing cycle parts.

One day while watching and supporting Ironnman UK he started to observe the position of the athletes taking place and couldn’t help but look in disbelief at the amount of top quality expensive bikes not being utilised because of poor position. This is when He set about opening The Bike Fitting Room. Since opening he has gone from strength to strength learning and developing his fitting skills to enable him to help each client get the most from the fit. You only have to take a look at his appointment calendar to see how sought after his knowledge and expertise has become.

He has also during all this time continued to mechanic and stay on the forefront of technology using the latest and best parts on the market. He works closely with a range of top quality athletes helping them stay ahead of the pack. It's his attention to detail In the bike fit and mechanical side of the bike that we at TricentralUk have acknowledged, making this the complete package.

Consultancy

Our goal is to utilise our years of knowledge and success to help you unlock your ability to ride
with a great aero position and maximise power.

We will start with a consultation to enable the fitter to learn about the athletes goals from the fit, discuss any current or previous injuries and talk about other factors that will contribute to getting a great fit.
From this point we will move on to taking 12 measurements of the athlete and entering the data into Shimano bikefitting.com database. This creates your perfect set-up with over 4,500 makes and models of bike data.
We will use the info from this data as a starting point to our fit. Before we adjust anything on the bike, we will do a video analysis of your current riding position using Dartfish video technology.
Using The measurements and video data the fitter will start to work on the following key points: -

Using The measurements and video data the fitter will start to work on the following key points:

• Saddle height to achieve correct leg extension

• Saddle fore/ aft position to achieve the best power through your pedal stroke.

• Stem height and length to achieve a good aero position.

• Aero set up concentrating on reducing your CdA (coefficient of drag) area. This is to give the best power to aero ratio possible.

• Cleat fore / aft to give maximal force transfer ensuring the pedal spindle is correctly positioned between your 1st and 5th metatarsals

• Cleat Medial/lateral positioning to reduce lateral and medial motion of the knee using video and laser analysis.

• Foot wedging to help determine the need for wedging and help with several factors of stability and purchase.

• Cleat rotation to help get the best rotational foot position and reduce tibial twist.

This concludes the fit process and will take approximately 2-3 hours
